My dear LIONS and LEO families
At the 93rd International Convention of Lions Clubs, happened in Sidney, Australia, from June 28th to July 2nd, we concluded our mission as International Directory, plenty of satisfaction and proud.
We are very happy with the conscience of the mission accomplished. We traveled a lot, 27 international trips in 2 years, besides innumerous trips around Brazil. We watched the members, answered thousands of e-mails, phone calls, built a website that pictured our walk with information and important news, sent every 2 months an online report of our activities in Portuguese, Spanish and English, approved important motions in the Directory, developed many friendships, listened and mainly felt the human heat of the members and the pleasure to serve the communities. We learned a lot and we grew.
The significant growth demonstrates the strength of the LIONS and the greatness of the International Association of Lions Clubs.
POSITION OF LIONS IN THE WORLD ON JUNE 30TH, 2010:
Members - 1.338.803
Liquid increase in LA 2009-2010 : 19.873 members
Clubs - 46.168
That’s the position of Area 3, 2nd area in growth in this AL in the world, that gets expressive surplus… more than 2.747 members.
In Brazil, more than 1716 members, detaching the Multiple District LB with more than 719 members.
We are happy because the Valorization and Growth LIONS pact found echo in the hearts of LIONS and LEO families. In this 2 LEO years, 2008-09, 2009-10, we increased the members number in the world in more than 33.169 members.
In Area 3, more than 4.723 members.
In Brazil, more than 3.823 members.
Congratulations to the International President 2008-09, Al Brandel-Maureen, to the International President Eberhard Wirfs-Margit, to our Former International Presidents, to our Former International Directors, to the Presidents of Councils, to the dedicated Governors, Vice-Governors, to the Club’s Presidents, Assessors, members of ACEL Team, of GMT Team. Congratulations LEO and LIONS families, for the effort, determination, for serve the people and for the love.
We have been wrote many stories in this 93 years of solidarity, serving and love the others, and we keep building beauty stories that are changing the world.
We want to greet and thank everybody for the support and affection that we received in the visits made and in the letters received. We want to thank for the love to the serving cause, for the work done and for the significant conquests.
We left as a reflection in this moment of accountability and beginning of a new leonistic years, where new ideas are presented, new action plans. Remember: “Happiness is something to do, somebody to love and something to be hope”. According to the Chinese Philosophy, we can surely state that we are privileged and happy people because we believe we have so much to do, so many people to love and so many reasons to be hopeful.
I thank you all that delegated me to this noble mission of representing you in the International Directory. Everything that I lived makes me believe each time more in the LIONS.
